Cahira

OKeefe Stables are excited to introduce Cahira! We purchased this beautiful chestnut filly at the March OBS sale.  We loved her breeze at the sale and was especially excited about her gallop out. She is a May foal and will continue to develop.

Highlights

Cahira, Irish for female warrior, is the daughter of Midshipman and Yaletown. Midshipman won the Breeders Cup Championship for  2 yr old colts and was a black-type winner of $1,584,600. He also has sired 62 Black Type winners. Yaletown is the daughter of Kentucky Derby winner Thunder Gulch.  She is currently at Irish Hill Century Farm and will resume training when the Saratoga training track opens in May. We expect her first start this summer at Saratoga Racecourse!!

April Update: Cahira is enjoying her time off after the sales. We expect to start her in training shortly with Saffie Joseph Jr. She is a beautiful filly and we are very excited to see her on the racetrack at Saratoga!

June Update- Cahira will stay at Irish Hills Century farm until August and then start training at Saratoga for her debut at Belmont in Sept. This is by far our best bred horse and we are very anxious to see her start working. We purchased her at the OBS sales and she showed at the sale that she is a horse with a great future!!

August Update-Cahira-our 2 yr old filly has started In Front Training Center (see video in "News" section) chestnut filly) and will be with trainer Rudy Rodriguez at Aqueduct on October 1st. We are really expecting her to hit the ground running based on her efforts at the Ocala Breeders Sale and her class. She is by Midshipman, 2 yr old colt champion and Yaletown, a daughter of Thunder Gulch a Kentucky Derby Champion. Her first race should be around the mid to the end of November.
