OKeefe Stables won its first entered race with Firing Fast at Aqueduct. We are incredibly proud of our team!
Highlights
Yoshida was a Black-type winner of 5 races and had earnings of over $2.5 million. He was a grade 1 winner on dirt (Woodward Stakes $400,000) and turf (Old Forester Turf Classic $297,600). His first crop will be running in 2023.
This wonderful filly has been sent to Irish Hills Century Farms near Saratoga, NY, and will start training in NOV and debut in the summer next year at the 2024 Saratoga meet.
November Update: was a big step for her. She transferred to In Front Training Center early in November. It was time to introduce her to a saddle, someone riding her and training with other horses. As you can see in the video (closest to you) she is doing outstanding and is really enjoying herself. In her first three weeks she exceeded our expectations tremendously.
January Update: MJ really had a successful initial training and did whatever was asked from her. After completing 8 weeks of training she will enjoy a well deserved two months of relaxation. She will resume her training in April with the expectations to have her first start at Saratoga this summer!
March Update: MJ completed her training in Jan and has been idle for FEB and March. She is due to start training again in a few weeks at In Front training center, she will transfer to the Saratoga training track in May/June. We are planning her first start at Saratoga this summer.
June Update- MJ is at the Saratoga training track with Trainer Ray Handel. This NY Bred 2 yr old filly will work thru July and be ready for her first race in August. She looks like a 5-6 F horse with early speed.
August Update-MJ's Yoshida- our 2 yr old NY Bred filly is trained by Maxine Correa at Tampa Bay Downs in Florida. Maxine has worked with trainers James Bond and Nick Zito for many years and has a stable of her own now. MJ worked from the gate this week and we believe like many of the Yoshida offspring, she will really like the turf for racing. Her first start will be in November. We plan on keeping her at Tampa/Gulfstream over the winter and return to NY racing in the spring.
