After winning our first race with Firing Fast, we were very excited about Awesome Life's first race. However, he never really took to the turf and made a short run before finishing 10th. We thought he would like the turf and even without a work or any experience on turf we entered him. Live and learn, back on the dirt!
With Saratoga racing coming up quickly, this is going to be a great summer!!
Awesome Life- Since his initial race, he has come back and had two very strong workouts. June 22, (3F 35.9) 4th best of 37 horses and on June 28th an extremely fast time of (3F in 35.0) finishing 1st of 28 horses. He will run at Gulfstream Park on July 20th and head to Saratoga for an August race. We can't wait for his 2nd race and expect a great improvement.
MJ's Yoshida- MJ is at the Saratoga training track with Trainer Ray Handel. This NY Bred 2 yr old filly will work thru July and be ready for her first race in August. She looks like a 5-6 F horse with early speed. She is closest to you in the video.
Cahira- Cahira will stay at Irish Hills Century farm until August and then start training at Saratoga for her debut at Belmont in Sept. This is by far our best bred horse and we are very anxious to see her start working. We purchased her at the OBS sales and she showed at the sale that she is a horse with a great future!!
Brody's Appeal- Brody has developed tremendously over the last year and will also start training in August with an expectation to start his first race at Belmont in Sept. See him below from last week.
Well overall we are very happy with the stable and as three are two year olds and Awesome is three, they will continue to progress, develop and race. We would like to add an additional horse and we will be looking to claim a horse at Saratoga this summer. Thanks everyone for their support and let's go OKeefe Stables and Saratoga!!!
